Draper, Utah — March 26, 2026

Utah’s life sciences community is gearing up for one of its most anticipated events of the year: BioHive Live, the flagship gathering of BioHive Week. This year’s event takes place April 16, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium’s Mountain America Credit Union Event Center that opened its doors in June of 2025.

Part of the broader BioHive Week (April 13–17), the conference anchors a full slate of ecosystem events spanning investor summits, startup showcases, student programming, and community mixers—culminating in the Best of BioHive Awards Gala the evening of the conference. The Gala recognizes Utah’s top companies and individuals transforming patient care, with winners selected by a panel of experts across life sciences sectors.

After selling out last year with 450 attendees at Hale Centre Theater in Sandy, Utah, BioHive Live is scaling significantly. The new venue allows for 600–900 participants, reflecting the growing demand for connection and collaboration in Utah’s innovation economy.

Audience Overview:
BioHive Live attracts a diverse cross-section of Utah’s life sciences community: students, founders, industry professionals, and C-suite leaders spanning diagnostics, therapeutics, medtech/healthtech, medical devices, and patient care. It’s designed as a high-energy, connection-driven experience that highlights Utah as a hub for patient impact while creating meaningful networking opportunities across the ecosystem.

2026 Confirmed Speakers Include:

  • Janice Chen, Co-founder, CSO & President of Research, Mammoth BioSciences – Utah roots, CRISPR innovator
  • John Harris, CEO, BioFire Defense – defense and biotech perspective
  • Kurt Workman, Founder & Chairman / former CEO, Owlet – Utah medtech success story
  • Pantea Khodami, Worldwide Head of Life Sciences & Precision Medicine, AWS – data and AI in healthcare
  • Patti Dobrowolski, mindset speaker & culture coach – interactive session to kick off the day
  • Emily Harrington, professional rock climber – mindset and resilience talk
  • Tracy Milgram, Founder & Survivor, BRCAStrong – patient advocacy and survivorship story

The program blends TED-style short talks, industry panels, and interactive sessions designed to foster conversation, collaboration, and inspiration. Attendees can also explore a 40-table exhibit hall, engaging directly with startups, enterprise companies, and investors across life sciences sectors.

Beyond the main stage, BioHive Live will feature a significantly expanded exhibit hall (targeting ~40 exhibitors) and structured networking opportunities aimed at fostering collaboration across startups, enterprise players, and investors.

One of the most distinctive elements this year is the venue itself. Hosted at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, the event offers attendees exclusive access to immersive exhibits after 3:00 PM, creating an unusual backdrop for networking—conversations unfolding alongside marine life, rainforest environments, and global ecosystems.

BioHive Live sits at the center of a much broader movement. BioHive Week now includes events like Altitude Lab’s Demo Day and RISE Summit, the University of Utah’s Bench to Bedside Awards, startup-focused programming, and the Best of BioHive Awards Gala—collectively showcasing the depth and momentum of Utah’s innovation economy.

“We don’t want people sitting in a room all day just listening," shared Jenna Barbari, BioHive's Senior Communications Director with TechBuzz. "This event is about connection—getting people talking, sharing ideas, and building relationships that move the industry forward.”

“After nearly five years at Recursion, BioHive Live was a huge part of my decision to join BioHive," said Barbari. "The chance to come in and build a conference for the entire life sciences community was a big part of what drew me to BioHive.”
