Salt Lake City, Utah – August 7, 2025

The University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business has appointed Jeff D. Davis as director of its Master of Business Creation (MBC) program, a unique graduate degree designed specifically for startup founders.

Davis, a seasoned entrepreneur, investor, and international executive, succeeds Paul Brown, who led the program’s rapid expansion, including the launch of MBC Online and record enrollment in 2025. Brown will remain involved as a faculty member, advisor, and mentor.

As co-founder of the MBC program and a faculty member in marketing, Davis has played a key role since its inception. He led the launch of the MBC Global initiative, starting with a cohort in Africa, and created the student-led MBC Marketing Agency, which gives undergraduates hands-on startup experience while supporting MBC companies.

“Jeff has been instrumental in shaping the program from day one,” said Dean Kurt Dirks. “His leadership in international expansion and student-driven innovation positions MBC for continued success.”

Davis will now oversee all three MBC offerings: the in-person program in Salt Lake City, the fully online option available nationwide, and the MBC Global track, with plans underway to expand to Europe.

“We’re thrilled with the momentum of the MBC Global program,” said Davis. “Graduating our first African founders this summer and preparing to launch in Europe signals the global demand for this one-of-a-kind accelerator plus degree model.”

Davis brings deep industry experience. He spent over two decades at Procter & Gamble in global brand management, then led the viral YouTube-driven success of Orabrush, recognized by Google as one of the platform’s ten most iconic ad campaigns. He later founded Molio, a digital agency focused on brand-building through video and analytics.

A Utah alum, Davis holds degrees in marketing and German. He is based in Salt Lake City with his family.

Brown, a former law partner, venture capitalist, and co-founder of multiple investment funds, will continue teaching and advising in the Department of Entrepreneurship & Strategy.

“Paul’s leadership was crucial in growing MBC into what it is today,” Dirks added. “With Jeff at the helm and Paul still engaged, the program is poised to become the world’s leading graduate platform for serious entrepreneurs.”
