NRV Utah—a newly formed, Utah-rooted empowerment firm anchored in data-driven strategy—has acquired Bennett Communications, longtime publisher of Utah Valley Magazine and Utah Valley BusinessQ.

Founded in 1998 by husband and wife team, Jeanette and Matt Bennett, Bennett Communications built its reputation by documenting regional lifestyle and business growth. With the acquisition, both publications will continue uninterrupted under the leadership of NRV Utah founder Noel Vallejo.

“We are thrilled to have dedicated new leadership assume the management and publication of Utah Valley Magazine and Utah Valley Business Q,” said Jeanette Bennett. “We are confident the high standards that have always defined our magazines will be maintained, and I will be cheering them on in their plans for growth. I’ll always be proud to be the founding editor of these community icons.”

Vallejo is no stranger to scaling Utah institutions. He founded Pleasant Grove-based ed-tech company TestOut in 1991 and sold it to CompTIA in January 2023, as covered by TechBuzz. TestOut served millions of K-12 and higher ed users through an innovative LabSim learning platform.

The Bennetts, who built the publications over 25 years, are stepping back—but they’re leaving the magazines in capable hands. Key staff including advertising director Jason Nelson will stay on to ensure seamless continuity. Jeanette Bennett currently serves as Executive Managing Director/CEO + Market Leader | Utah for Colliers and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Thanksgiving Point.

Vallejo has pledged to maintain publication standards while exploring ways to marry content with analytics and community insight.

“I am deeply committed to carrying on the legacy that Jeanette and Matt have created,” said Vallejo. “Both Utah Valley Magazine and Utah Valley Business Qare essential to my vision of helping Utah and its people to succeed and flourish.”
