Salt Lake City, Utah — October 20, 2025
Utah will showcase its growing leadership in artificial intelligence with the 2025 Utah AI Summit, themed “Utah’s Pro-Human Leadership in the Age of AI.” The event will be held December 1–2, 2025, at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City.
Hosted by the Utah Department of Commerce and its Office of Artificial Intelligence Policy, along with the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO) and the Nucleus Institute, the summit will convene leaders from government, business, and academia to discuss how Utah can model a pro-human approach to artificial intelligence—one that aligns innovation with ethical and community values.

Governor Spencer Cox said Utah is “at the forefront of developing pro-human artificial intelligence, where innovation aligns with humanity. This approach creates technology that reflects our values and enhances our lives. By aligning technological progress with community values, Utah sets an example for the nation. It emphasizes that innovations should improve quality of life, drive prosperity, and strengthen connections within society—not replace them.”

Margaret Woolley Busse, Executive Director of the Utah Department of Commerce, added that “Utah aims to establish itself as a national leader in pro-human and pro-innovation AI initiatives. By promoting discussions and collaborations at this summit, we are laying the groundwork for AI to contribute to impactful growth and societal well-being.”
The two-day event will feature a keynote address from Gov. Cox and a fireside conversation with Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince, alongside sessions exploring workforce development in the age of AI, cutting-edge research from Utah universities, and emerging applications in biotechnology, finance, sustainable energy, and education.

Jefferson Moss, Executive Director of GOEO and the Nucleus Institute, said, “We are excited to assemble a diverse group of experts and stakeholders. This summit will highlight Utah's commitment to AI and generate actionable insights and collaborations to shape the future of technology and the impacts on our workforce.”
