Utah’s First-Ever Data Governance Summit to Tackle the Complexities of Modern Public Data Policy

Orem, Utah - May 28, 2025

On May 29, 2025, Utah Valley University (UVU) will host the inaugural Data Governance Summit, a landmark event that aims to untangle the increasingly complex web of public sector data management in the digital age.

Sponsored by the Gary R. Herbert Institute for Public Policy, the Smith College of Engineering and Technology, and the Utah Office of Data Privacy, the summit will convene top-tier government leaders, data experts, and public policy officials to confront the thorny realities of implementing new data governance laws.

“This isn’t just another panel discussion,” said Chris Bramwell, Utah’s Chief Privacy Officer. “We’re having the hard policy conversations, bringing all stakeholders to the table, and confronting the challenges that come with modernizing government in a digital age.”
