Sandy, Utah — December 24, 2025
Utah-based fintech startup Appli has made its first charitable donations through a new initiative called Data for Dogs, directing funds to ten no-kill animal shelters based on activity on its AI-powered loan calculator platform.
The donations are tied to more than $1.2 billion in consumer loan calculations completed by credit union members since Appli launched its platform just over a year ago. The company said the initiative allocates a portion of its revenue to animal welfare organizations in communities served by its credit union partners.
Appli, which is headquartered in Sandy, Utah, provides smart loan calculators to credit unions and community banks. The platform uses a dual AI system—a proprietary confidence model combined with a large language model—to give borrowers real-time feedback on their likelihood of qualifying for loans and explain why, a design aimed at reducing friction and anxiety in the borrowing process. TechBuzz first covered the company in October 2024 following the release of its industry-first dual AI loan calculator.
According to founder and CEO Tim Pranger, Appli’s tools also help credit unions convert calculator activity into qualified loan applications while generating insight into member demand and borrowing behavior. The company is currently working with multiple credit unions nationwide and previously disclosed plans to expand to 10–12 institutional partners as a bootstrapped SaaS provider.
The Data for Dogs initiative supported shelters including Detroit Dog Rescue, Paws Chicago, Humane Society of Dallas, and Furkids Rescue, Shelter & Sanctuary, among others. Appli said the donations were made in memory of two pets belonging to members of its founding team. Donation amounts were not disclosed.
The company plans to continue the program as platform usage grows, with future donation amounts linked to ongoing calculator activity.
