Lehi, Utah - May 5, 2025

Vivint, the Lehi-based home security and automation company, is expanding its platform to include smart energy management. This week, the company revealed a new visual identity to reflect this shift, signaling its transition from a security-focused service to a more integrated smart home solution.
The rebrand comes just over a year after Vivint’s acquisition by NRG Energy in December 2022. The all-cash deal, valued at $2.8 billion, also included the assumption of $2.4 billion in debt. NRG, a Fortune 500 company specializing in energy and home services, has positioned Vivint to meet the growing consumer demand for centralized control over home security, automation, and energy usage.
Today, Vivint serves over two million customers across the U.S., with an average customer tenure of nine years. As part of NRG, the company is now a key player in expanding smart home and energy solutions to a broader market.

“We are entering a rapid phase of innovation, where energy management concerns are beginning to rival security concerns,” said David Porter, Managing Director of Vivint. “As part of NRG, Vivint is poised to lead this phase and redefine the smart home experience.”
Headquartered in Lehi, Utah, Vivint began as a security provider in 1999 and rebranded in 2011 to reflect its broader focus on smart home technology. The company now serves over two million U.S. customers, with an average customer tenure of nine years, according to internal data.
One of the first visible signs of the NRG partnership is a bundled offering launched with Reliant, another NRG-owned brand. Dubbed the Smarter Home Bundle, it provides new and existing Reliant customers with a Vivint Doorbell Camera Pro and Smart Thermostat, along with professional installation. The bundle includes access to a dedicated app interface that combines Vivint’s home automation tools with personalized energy insights powered by Reliant.

Vivint’s new visual identity retains elements of its previous branding while introducing a redesigned logo and color scheme intended to signal a warmer, more user-centric approach. The update reflects the company’s goal to make smart home technology more accessible and integrated for everyday users.
Despite the branding changes, the company says its core commitments—professional installation, 24/7 support, and end-to-end control of devices and services—remain unchanged.
With the backing of NRG, Vivint aims to push beyond traditional smart home boundaries and cater to a growing demand for all-in-one systems that combine security, automation, and energy optimization.
