DuPont has entered into a strategic partnership with Hydroblok, a fast-growing construction technology company focused on lightweight, water-resistant building systems, to supply Styrofoam Brand XPS for HydroBlok One | Backer CI™, its insulated building board designed for faster, more efficient installation.
The collaboration brings together DuPont’s building-envelope materials expertise and Hydroblok’s composite board technology, aiming to streamline construction workflows while improving durability, thermal performance, and water resistance. The companies say the joint solution is designed to meet growing demand from builders and contractors seeking faster installs without sacrificing long-term performance.
“This partnership reflects DuPont’s focus on helping contractors and builders work more efficiently while maintaining high performance standards,” said Tim Lacey, Global Vice President and General Manager of DuPont Performance Building Solutions & Corian® Design.
Hydroblok has spent more than a decade validating its board technology in commercial shower installations, logging more than 200,000 deployments across major hotel brands including Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, and Ritz-Carlton. The company’s systems are designed for one-person installation, significantly reducing labor time and complexity compared to traditional building materials.

The HydroBlok One | Backer CI™ board integrates DuPont Styrofoam™ Brand XPS at its core, adding thermal insulation to Hydroblok’s existing water- and mold-resistant composite design. While the product is currently positioned for interior applications, the partnership extends beyond a single board.
DuPont and Hydroblok are already field-testing labor-saving wall system solutions aimed at improving the installation of exterior stucco walls—an area long criticized for high labor costs and installation variability.
“We’re combining two complementary technologies to deliver an all-in-one system that performs across water, air, and thermal control,” said Colin House, CEO of Hydroblok. “The goal is to simplify construction while raising performance expectations.”

HydroBlok products featuring DuPont Styrofoam™ Brand XPS are now available through a growing network of distributors across North America.
Hydroblok will spotlight its building-board technology during an open house on Wednesday, February 4, from 6:00–8:30 p.m. as part of Utah Tech Week. The Draper, Utah–based company invites builders, contractors, and industry professionals for hands-on demonstrations of its proprietary water-resistant exterior backer boards and wall systems.
