Kaysville, Utah — August 31, 2026
A new Kaysville-based startup is betting that Utah companies want something sharper than the usual company softball night. The W2 Super League kicks off its founding season October 24 with four sports, eight events, and a season-ending awards gala. The league says its mission is to boost employee engagement and help company culture flourish; built, in the words of Christian Daniels, who's styled himself the league's commissioner rather than its CEO, to give the office's serious pickleballers and weekend golfers a real, competitive stage.
"There's not too many good corporate athletic leagues," Daniels told TechBuzz. Programs like Salt Lake County's are fine but loosely organized — casual, low-production, more trivia night than tournament. He saw a gap for something with real venues, real production value, and real stakes. "I know for a fact there's some serious pickleballers, some serious golfers" inside Utah companies, he said. "W2 Super League is built to give them a place to compete."
How it works
Companies register and pay for a team of employees. Each participant picks one sport and competes in both of that sport's events, spread roughly three weeks apart. At the end of the one-month season, the winning company is crowned champion at a November 14 awards ceremony at The Ballard, a rooftop venue in Draper — part trophy presentation, part company party.
The four sports
- Golf — Men's and Women's, 9 holes per round, two events at Cedar Hills Golf Club
- Pickleball — Mixed doubles at The Picklr in Sandy; first event round-robin, second event elimination tournament
- Running — Men's and Women's, 6-mile first event and 10-mile second event, staged on a closed road near West Mountain and Lincoln Beach Campground in Spanish Fork
- Cycling — Men's and Women's individual time trial, 20 miles then 30 miles, same Lincoln Beach start/finish

Building it as a brand, not just an event
W2SL isn't just staging events; it's building a media property around them. The startup has a marketing team producing website content, social campaigns and email marketing, with an emphasis on highlight reels from each event. Perks for participating companies extend beyond the competitions themselves: year-round culture seminars, group runs and rides, service projects, and an "open participation" W2X stock-market-style fantasy game that lets non-competing employees stay engaged.

A Hard Tech Week connection
Daniels is also weighing a presence at Hard Tech Week, the rebranded Utah Tech Week running October 26-30 (with October 28-29 carved out for the Zero Gravity Summit). Companies and organizers can feature open houses and receptions on the Hard Tech Week calendar on October 26, 27 or 30 — dates that don't conflict with the Summit — giving W2SL a potential window to put itself in front of Utah's broader tech community.
Registration
Pricing is tiered by roster size: $5,000 for 1-10 employees, $8,000 for 11-20, $10,000 for 21-30, and custom pricing for larger rosters. Companies can schedule a 20-minute walkthrough of roster size, sport selection and pricing before rosters close ahead of the October 24 season opener.
