Album VC — one of the most respected seed funds in the Mountain West — is expanding its partnership for the first time in a decade, welcoming Ty Boswell and Cash Allred as partners.

Ty Boswell joins from AXOM Partners. Before that, he worked at Snowflake, including as Senior Manager of Corporate Finance, and at Centerview Partners, all three located in the Bay Area.

"I've always believed the best investors are the ones founders never have to wonder about. Album is that firm," said Boswell. "Being in the trenches with founders isn't something they talk about, it's how they operate. After years of seeing what the best founders are capable of, I wanted to be in the room backing the companies that will define what comes next — and there's no better place to do that."

Cash Allred was previously an Associate Partner at Antler, a global venture firm with over $1B AUM. He was part of Antler's core US fund focusing on inception-stage companies as well as the Criticality fund, focusing on US-based deep tech. Cash and his family of six are returning home to Utah after several years living in Colorado and New Mexico.

"To the Antler team, a huge thank you," Allred shared on LinkedIn. "We’ve forged friendships, made incredible memories, and backed dozens of the highest quality founding teams in the country. I look forward to co-investing together in the future. And now, I am excited to announce the next phase of my investor journey: Album."

Two different paths. One shared destination.

And what has made Album the destination worth choosing? The numbers speak for themselves:

  • 7/7 Utah unicorns backed before they had horns
  • Early investors in Podium, Divvy, TaxBit, MX, Weave, Filevine, Route, Neighbor and more
  • 35 portfolio founders reinvesting as LPs in their latest fund

But the stats only tell part of the story. As partner Sid Krommenhoek puts it:

"Founders are humans and humans are flawed and crazy and beautiful — there's something that goes on between a VC and a founder that is especially hard to replicate."

That people-first philosophy — built on humility, accountability, and genuine founder partnership — is exactly what drew Ty and Cash to join forces with John Mayfield, Sid Krommenhoek, and Diogo Myrrha.

Founded in 2014 and rebranded as Album in 2019, the firm has never chased the Ivy League pedigree or trust fund shortcuts. Two-thirds of the original partner team are first-generation Americans. They built their reputation the hard way — by showing up for founders, round after round.

As Diogo himself has said, to make an Album deal, they need to see the crazy in your eyes.

With fresh talent, a broader geographic lens, and a decade of momentum behind them — Album is just getting started.
